[3dem] Postdoctoral positions available at Berkeley

[Eva Nogales]

Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately at UC 
Berkeley/HHMI, in the lab of Eva Nogales:


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

•	One position is available to work on the structural characterization 
of a number of complex macromolecular assemblies using electron 
microscopy, image reconstruction and biochemical and biophysical assays. 
Projects include human transcription initiation complexes, replication, 
and microtubule cytoskeleton.
•	An additional position is immediately available to work on structural 
and biochemical characterization of complexes of RNA polymerase II with 
DNA repair proteins in collaboration with the P.K. Cooper Lab at LBNL. 
It is particularly urgent to fill this position, so those prepared to 
move within 6 months are particularly encouraged to apply.
•	The research in our lab should be attractive to those wanting to 
extend their biophysical or biochemical expertise into the expanding 
area of cryo-electron microscopy and single particle reconstruction.
•	Berkeley has state-of-the art electron microscopes within an 
environment of several electron microscopy groups with a very strong 
tradition in the field, as well as research groups of international 
caliber in the biological areas we are studying.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•	Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or an 
appropriately related field.
•	Researchers with a strong background in biochemistry are of particular 
interest to our lab.
•	Previous experience purifying and handling large protein complexes 
will be an extreme plus!.
•	Experience in the fields of eukaryotic transcription or DNA repair 
would be highly valued.
•	Candidate must be able to think independently and work cooperatively.
