We are seeking to hire two qualified individuals to fill positions in
3D electron microscopy at the Wadsworth Center, Albany, New York.
Position 1: This position will emphasize computational methods
development in the area of single-particle image processing that lead
to improvements in 3D cryo-EM structure determination or
time-resolved dynamics of biological macro-molecules.
Position 2: This position will develop and apply cryo-EM tomography
methods to address relevant biomedical questions in Cell Biology.
Candidates will have established, or plan to establish, a vigorous
externally funded research program, and will be enthusiastic about
forging collaborations with other scientists at the center.
The Wadsworth Center enjoys a century of excellence as a
research-intensive institution and is the country's most
comprehensive state public health laboratory
(<http://www.wadsworth.org/>www.wadsworth.org). The Center provides
a highly interactive research environment with a longstanding
emphasis on microscopy, and is the home of the NIH Resource for the
Visualization of Biological Complexity. The Center also has an
academic affiliation with the University at Albany.
Wadsworth scientists receive competitive start-up packages and have
access to outstanding core facilities that include state-of-the-art
cryo-electron microscopes, ancillary equipment, and substantial image
processing capabilities, including access to super-computing
resources. In addition, we are in the process of procuring a new 300
kV field emission cryo EM.
Albany, the capital of the New York State, offers an attractive
cost-of-living, a vibrant academic community, and diverse cultural
and outdoor activities.
CVs and three letters of recommendation should be sent to
<mailto:emsearch at wadsworth.org>emsearch at wadsworth.org. Consideration
of completed applications will begin on February 15, 2008.
The ad for the same positions will also appear in Dec 14, 2007 issue
of Science. I would appreciate if you circulate this message among
your eligible colleagues and also display it on appropriate notice boards.
The Wadsworth Center is an equal opportunity affirmative action employer.
Thank you.
