optimal sampling

Dear list members,

according to Misell (1978) there are three conditions for scanning a micrograph of a 2D crystal optimally.
(integral no. of unit cells along at least one side of the image, integral number of pixels in at least one
unit cell vector, at least one unit cell vector alined with scan)
Unfortunately Misell doesn't give a reference and, in my view, doesn't show it convincingly either.

Does anybody know of a source for these conditions.
