We are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague with a technical degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics or chemistry, who would be excited to pursue a career in electron microscopy.<br class="">

The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry has a large, vibrant community of electron microscopists that develops and uses novel cryo-electron microscopy, tomography, and FIB-SEM methods and that works closely with industrial partners. We are looking for a technician
or engineer to operate and maintain electron microscopes, and to contribute to research projects that improve or develop electron microscope technology and that apply electron microscopy to study biological samples. The candidate will work in a motivated international
research environment with teams performing advanced research using electron microscopes.<br class="">

Your responsibilities will include<br class="">
<div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span>• Operate transmission electron microscopes and/or focused ion beam scanning electron microscopes<br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span>• Ensure that the microscopes are in good working order, interacting with other staff and company field service engineers to ensure this<br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span>• Help users to operate the microscopes<br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span>• Take part in research projects aimed at using or making technical improvements to microscopes<br class="">
</div>
As the ideal candidate you will hold a technical degree in materials science, electrical engineering, physics or chemistry or a combination of these disciplines. You will be proficient in operating and working with complex equipment and exhibit a keen interest in
understanding and performing the operation of such equipment and the associated troubleshooting. You will have a good working knowledge of English and strong interpersonal skills.<br class="">

The salary level will be according to TVöD (Bund) (public salary scale). The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility for extension.<br class="">
