<span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">This new, state-of-the-art research center offers scientists access to </span><a style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif" href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.bnl.gov/cryo-em/instrumentation.php__;!!Mih3wA!Gd84p6rVxT5fnf1n32c-uai-mwUSMC6h-GCYsjyO5jDMcPElb2C_TJ5-YD74k9DdxyqqzKYVJMxZEJ9BXMo$" target="_blank">advanced cryo-electron microscopes</a><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif"> (cryo-EMs) for single particle analysis of proteins and macromolecular complexes, as well as cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) of cells and tissues.</span><br />

LBMS operates in two 6-month cycles and all electron microscope (EM) time is requested through the web-based <a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://pass.bnl.gov/__;!!Mih3wA!Gd84p6rVxT5fnf1n32c-uai-mwUSMC6h-GCYsjyO5jDMcPElb2C_TJ5-YD74k9DdxyqqzKYVJMxZ3LhhUmg$" target="_blank">Proposal</a><a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://pass.bnl.gov/__;!!Mih3wA!Gd84p6rVxT5fnf1n32c-uai-mwUSMC6h-GCYsjyO5jDMcPElb2C_TJ5-YD74k9DdxyqqzKYVJMxZ3LhhUmg$" target="_blank"> </a><a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://pass.bnl.gov/__;!!Mih3wA!Gd84p6rVxT5fnf1n32c-uai-mwUSMC6h-GCYsjyO5jDMcPElb2C_TJ5-YD74k9DdxyqqzKYVJMxZ3LhhUmg$" target="_blank">Allocation, Safety, and Scheduling System (PASS)</a> system. There are a number of modes of access for cryo-EMs at LBMS including General User, Rapid Access, and Block Allocation Groups that all follow a common life cycle that involves the following steps: proposal submission, feasibility evaluation, peer-review, allocation of EM time, scheduling, carrying out the work, and reporting the results and publications.<br />

To create a new proposal, you need to identify the type of proposal, the technique, and the microscope that fits your needs.
