<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black">We are seeking a highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to the Division for Structural Biology, at the Nuffield Department of Medicine. You join a team
to understand in molecular detail Influenza virus replication and transcription, and the process of viral assembly.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black">You will be responsible for managing your own academic research activities, which involves small scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work
and meet deadlines. You will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, and test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will contribute
ideas for new research projects, and contribute to the presentation of scientific results through journal articles, posters and oral presentations at national/international conferences.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:8.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black">It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in structural biology, biochemistry, virology or a related field, together with research experience
in either the production of viral proteins for structure/function studies or cell biology of virus infections. You will have research expertise in collecting and analysing in cellular cryo-tomography EM data, and have knowledge and skill base in cellular cryo-tomography
EM data, which will allow you to act as the advocate for this technique within the Research group. It is essential that you have a clear interest in developing correlative approaches of cryo-SIM and cryo-ET data. Excellent communication skills, both written
and spoken is essential for the role.</span></p>
