<p class="MsoNormal">Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics (DBMB) seeks to hire a successful candidate for the position of Associate Research Scientist to serve as an Assistant Director for our Cryogenic Electron
Microscope Core Facility (Cryo-EM Core).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This state-of-the-art facility supports cryo-EM analysis of a wide variety of biological samples by a vibrant research community currently comprising ten laboratory groups and more than 50 scientists located on Columbia’s Medical School,
Manhattanville, and Morningside Heights campuses. We seek an experienced Associate Research Scientist who will provide technical support for this community. While the focus of the positions will be microscope maintenance and user training, ample opportunities
exist for scientific collaboration.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Associate Research Scientist will participate in all of the Cryo-EM Core’s daily operations, including maintenance and upkeep of the electron microscopes and associated equipment, ordering supplies, interacting with vendors, and assisting
the Director in managing the facility. Particular emphasis will be placed on training users in sample preparation and Cryo-EM data collection methods and supervising their use of the microscopes. The position will offer the opportunity to co-author papers
when substantive contributions are made to the research projects of facility users.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Minimum qualifications: <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Ph.D. or equivalently deep training and experience in cryo-EM applied to biology, bioengineering, or a related field.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Preferred qualifications: <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Successful experience with single-particle Cryo-EM structure determination and/or Cryo-ET and proficiency in the related sample preparation techniques and/or data processing/analysis procedures would be a plus as would strong computational
skills.<o:p></o:p></p>
