Following a Wellcome Trust Investigator Award to Dr Sebastian Guettler, a Postdoctoral Training Fellow position is available from 01 April 2019 in the Structural Biology of Cell Signalling team in the Divisions of Structural and Cancer Biology. Work in the
Guettler laboratory centres on the elucidation of signal transduction mechanisms relevant to the function of cancer cells, in particular the <strong>Wnt/beta-catenin network and telomere homeostasis and their control by poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation</strong>. Research
by the team combines structural biology, both by X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy, biochemistry, biophysics and functional studies in mammalian cells. For a research overview, please visit sguettlerlab.org or icr.ac.uk.</div>

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative candiate with a strong interest in the structural and mechanistic characterisation of large multi-protein complexes. Applicants must have a PhD in a biological or physical science, and experience in biochemistry
and cryo-electron microscopy.</div>

Research in the Division of Structural Biology is aimed at understanding the structural basis for the function and regulation of proteins and protein complexes implicated in cancer. Our research programmes are complemented by close collaborations with other
groups elsewhere in the Institute, including groups from the Divisions of Cancer Biology and Cancer Therapeutics, and provide the mechanistic and structural framework for developing new therapeutics targeting cancer. The Division of Structural Biology is well
equipped with state-of-the-art in-house X-ray equipment and robotics, computational infrastructure, an in-house electron microscopy facility (including a high-end 200 keV microscope equipped with a direct electron camera and Volta phase plate to be installed
in 2019) and has direct access to a 300 keV Krios microscope, as part of the LonCEM consortium. Links with synchrotron radiation sources and the Electron Bio-Imaging Centre (eBIC) for cryo-electron microscopy are established.</div>
