<div class="">Due to the success of our early access program, the National Center for CryoEM Access and Training (NCCAT;
<a href="http://nccat.nysbc.org" class="">nccat.nysbc.org</a>) announces the opening of additional access categories. The General User Proposal (GUP) program allows researchers to use NCCAT resources through a competitive review process. The Training Proposal
(TP) program supports embedded user and/or facility management training. </div>

<div class="">Interested users should submit applications through the NCCAT proposal system at: <a href="http://nccat.nysbc.org/proposalcentral/" class="">http://nccat.nysbc.org/proposalcentral/</a> .</div>

<div class="">The four (4) available NCCAT proposal classes that users may apply for today are:</div>
<div class=""><b class="">General User Proposals</b></div>
<div class=""><b class=""><i class="">1) GUP1: Data Collection</i></b> (open)</div>
<div class="">Access for experienced users with pre-screened cryoEM samples in need of Titan Krios time.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><b class=""><i class="">2) GUP2: Sample preparation and screening </i></b>(starting Q1 2019)</div>
<div class="">Access for users in need of staff-assisted sample preparation and screening resources with the intent of a follow on high-end instrumentation session. This initial cycle will support use of Chameleon (the commercialized version of Spotiton).</div>

<div class=""><b class="">Training Proposals</b></div>
<div class=""><b class=""><i class="">3) TP1: Embedded Training </i></b>(starting January 2019)</div>
<div class="">Training a scientist to become an independent cryoEM researcher. NCCAT staff will assist with access and trainings over an intensive immersion program. Users will be expected to bring a biological cryoEM project to drive their training program.</div>

<div class=""><b class=""><i class="">4) TP2: Facility Manager Training </i></b>(starting this month)</div>
<div class="">Extended training to individuals who are responsible for managing, leading or training at their own facilities; these individuals will have considerably amplified impact when they return to their home institution. </div>

<div class="">NCCAT is a cryoEM service center funded by the NIH Common Fund (<a href="https://commonfund.nih.gov/" class="">https://commonfund.nih.gov/</a>). Located at the Simons Electron Microscopy Center (<a href="http://semc.nysbc.org" class="">semc.nysbc.org</a>),
which is a part of the New York Structural Biology Center (<a href="http://nysbc.org" class="">nysbc.org</a>) in New York City, the mission of NCCAT is twofold: to provide nationwide access to advanced cryoEM technical capabilities, and to assist users in
the development of cryoEM skills needed for independent research. There is a rolling call for proposals with quarterly cycles (<a href="http://nccat.nysbc.org/proposalcentral/" class="">nccat.nysbc.org/proposalcentral/</a>). Additional classes of proposals
will be opened when the new NCCAT wing at NYSBC completes construction (expected the summer of 2019).</div>
