The preinstallation manual may well say that (it certainly did when we installed) , but for the parsimonious amongst you, our falcon-3 offload server sits directly on top of its Krios' power cabinet very happily, where it is protected by the microscope's ups.
We bought a 3rd party offload server for our k2-equipped Krios, and it also lives on top of its power cabinet.... Equally fine. No rack or thermal enclosure required.
