We saw these on a batch (but not on recent ones), if I recall correctly, we just pre-rinsed the grids with buffer and blotting directly prior to applying sample.

We have been using UltrAufoil for a few weeks now with great success in terms of stability and reproducibility. However also reproducible are gold particles in the holes (see picture of an extreme case). These are certainly great for tomography not so much
