<p>HI I did, and yes we failed. As Johannes said we met the first
requirements (followers) but we failed on the questions.</p>
<p>I'm happy to start it again. I really think it would be a nice
resource if succeeds.</p>

<b>Once I propose a site, what happens next?</b><br>
A site goes through several phases before it launches to the public.
Each stage is designed to improve the site and build up momentum and
support.<br>

Interested parties propose and discuss <b>sample questions</b> to
define what the site is — and is not — about.<br>
Users are asked to <b>commit to participate</b> in the site to
assure that the site will have enough participation — we don't want
to create ghost towns.<br>
The site is launched for a beta period to seed it with questions,
develop the FAQ, appoint temporary moderators, and refine its
design.<br>
If a site reaches critical mass, it becomes a full member of the
Stack Exchange Network.<br>
If a proposal loses momentum, it may be re-evaluated or merged with
similar proposals. Proposals with insufficient activity are subject
to removal. Deleted proposals can be re-proposed anew by users with
renewed energy and, hopefully, better resources to bring it to
commitment.<br>

My only doubt about it is that it requires to actively, got to the
site to answer the questions...unless I'm missing a "notification"
setting to simulate a "digest" mode.<br>

If everyone in our mailing list is informed about what stackexchange is and if we send enough reminders before a new test is launched and during the test period, we will for sure make it through. With the many followers of our mailing list it won't be a problem to get 400 votes up. We could even gather a set of questions before starting a new action and only launch the action when we are ready.
Since it is GRC week, I suggest that someone makes a short presentation about stackexchange there, unfortunately I can't do it as I am not there... (for more impact, this has to be incorporated in the skit!) I'll be at the tomography conference though and I am happy to make some promotion there.

Apparently so. We did have enough followers, but not 40 questions with
score of 10 or more, I believe, so the Area51 admins(?) gave it
rejected status after the proposal was idle for 30 days (or something).
It's also pity that they didn't even archive the proposal, it would
have been helpful for refining a new proposal.
