A 2-year position as a postdoc (or assistant professor w/o tenure track) in EM tomography and single-particle cryoEM studies of neuronal membranes is available from April 2017, or as soon as possible after, in the laboratory of Prof. Poul Nissen, Aarhus University.<br class="">

The project is part of the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE) and the BRAINSTRUC research program funded by the Lundbeck Foundation.<br class="">
<br class="">
Aarhus University has established state-of-the-art cryoEM facilities centered on a fully operational Titan-Krios microscope with a Cs corrector and equipped with a Gatan K2 Quantum detector that will be available to the project.<br class="">
<br class="">
The project will be focused on studies of large complexes and network structures of neuronal membranes associated with formation and transmission of action potentials and with a particular focus on the coupled function of ion pumps and ion channels. The candidate
must present a significant experience and strong track record in membrane protein structural biology or from electron microscopy studies on biological samples. The position will have a main focus on tomographic studies of large membrane protein complexes in
native membranes or native membrane nanodiscs. The position will also involve teamwork with other postdocs and PhD and MSc students on single-particle cryoEM studies of membrane proteins and complexes.
Application of X-ray and neutron scattering/diffraction
studies will also be possible.<br class="">
