<p class="MsoNormal">The applicant must be able to submit and track equipment usage for billing, order lab supplies and equipment, perform routine maintenance on instruments and schedule service calls for engineers to resolve equipment issues. The ideal candidate
 with have familiarity with confocal microscopy, so as to train and assist users with diverse background on the use of all imaging core facility instruments and troubleshoot problems as they occur.

Other responsibilities include: <br>
<br>
-Performs Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation guidelines. Utilizes the ultra microtome, photography of cell/tissue ultra structure, dark room techniques and antibody-antigen reaction staining.
<br>
-Conducts established quality control procedures; evaluates the results of quality control testing and implements corrective action according to established protocols to ensure the accuracy and quality of patient testing.
<br>
-Participates in the validation of new laboratory methods and procedures. <br>
Collaborates with medical director on the development of policies and <br>
procedures, which enhances EM quality.Performs other duties as assigned by the manager to support the department mission of service to patients and to provide quality diagnostic information.
<br>
-Participates in the laboratory's proficiency testing program ensuring that these samples are tested in t he same manner as patient specimens.
<br>
-Performs routine maintenance functions to ensure the proper operation of <br>
laboratory equipment. Adjusts parameters to maintain the Electron Microscope in satisfactory working condition. Troubleshoots and corrects minor problems.
<br>
-Recognizes and documents problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of results. Identifies, implements and documents corrective action or notifies the shift supervisor, director or manager.
<br>
-Evaluates the appropriateness of the sample received; performing critical <br>
processing of specimens to ensure the quality of embedding, sectioning, and <br>
photographing. <br>
-Utilizes the laboratory information system (LIS) appropriately to enter, evaluate, and verify patient information and or/results. Maintains EM and Immunoflourence database and creates year-end reports and statistics.
<br>
-May be assigned Mohs Technician responsibilities as follows: Performing frozen sections on specimens collected by the Mohs surgeons. Prepare Mohs mapping cards, receives, accessions, diagrams, dissects, inks and cryoembeds specimens. Prepares slides for review
 by the surgeon and stores/archives slides per policy. Performs histology processing including embedding, microtomy and manual/automated staining in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation requirements.
