<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">DESCRIPTION</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">The Hurley lab (QB3) is seeking to hire multiple
expert researchers in the analysis of the ESCRT and AP/clathrin membrane
remodeling complexes by electron and fluorescence microscopy. Candidates should
have expertise in the use of cryoelectron tomography, single particle electron
microscopy, and confocal fluorescence microscopy, preferably demonstrated
through publications. The candidates should have demonstrated ability to purify
and reconstitute membrane- associated assemblies of ESCRT and AP/clathrin
complexes or other similar membrane remodeling machineries.</span><br>
<br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Duties of the Position:</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Purify and fluorescently label ESCRT and/or
AP/clathrin complexes and associated viral proteins.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Determine binding of ESCRTs and/or AP/clathrin
to small, large and giant unilamellar vesicles.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Determine effects of ESCRTs and/or AP/clathrin
on structure of liposomes using confocal fluorescence microscopy and
cryoelectron microscopy.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Provide training to graduate students and
postdoctoral fellows in these techniques.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Prepare results for publication,
presentations, and grant proposals.</span><br>
<br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Basic Qualifications:</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in structural
biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related field is required at the time
of application.</span><br>
<br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Additional qualifications required by start
date:</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Post-Ph.D. experience in cryoelectron
tomography, single particle electron microscopy, microscopy of trafficking
proteins and vesicles.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Excellent written and oral communication
skills.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Experience with training graduate students and
postdoctoral fellows in microscopy.</span><br>
<br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Preferred qualifications:</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Experience in confocal fluorescence
microscopy.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Knowledge of the ESCRT and/or AP/clathrin
systems, with demonstrated ability to purify and reconstitute
membrane-associated assemblies of ESCRT and AP/clathrin complexes or other
similar membrane remodeling machineries.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Knowledge of HIV structural and molecular
virology.</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">• Publications demonstrating research in
cryoelectron tomography, single particle electron microscopy, and confocal
fluorescence microscopy.</span><br>

<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">Salary:</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">The annual salary range is $53,900-$84,300 plus
benefits. Salary will be</span><br>
<span style="background-image:initial;background-repeat:initial">commensurate with experience. The positions will
be full-time for one year with an approximate start date of June 1, 2016,
with a possibility for renewal.</span><br>
