</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72"><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal align=center style='text-align:center'><b>Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility Manager Position<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal align=center style='text-align:center'><b>UT Southwestern Medical Center<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>A permanent, full-time Cryo-EM Facility Manager position is available at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX, to manage the new high-resolution Cryo-EM Facility. <br><br><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>We seek applications from highly motivated individuals with experience in high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy and good technical familiarity with high-end transmission electron microscopes, specimen preparation methods, data acquisition software, image processing software, and with recent advances in electron microscopy. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Responsibilities for this position include: <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>- maintain the cryo-electron microscopes, ancillary equipment (including facility computing resource) and the facility (e.g. monitoring environmental conditions) in top working conditions for high-resolution structural studies;<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>- provide detailed user training (instruments, software and specimen preparation);<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>- provide continuous support for EM users during their scope operations;<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>- manage the cryo-EM facility (e.g. oversee facility policies and maintain electronic calendar system for instrument sign-up and an e-logbook for scope session logging);<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>- participate in cryo-specimen preparation, data collection and the development of new methods and techniques in cryo-EM single particle and tomography.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The Cryo-EM Facility has excellent institutional support and infrastructure, including a new state-of-the-art Titan Krios microscope with post-column energy filter, K2 Summit direct electron detectors and Volta Phase Plate; as well as an FEI Scios Dual Beam for cryo-FIB-ing (*), a JEOL2200, and sample preparation equipment. [* Please note that experience with Dual Beam/FIB is not required and Scios training will be provided by FEI.] The Cryo-EM Facility is housed in a newly constructed state-of-the-art building close to the separately run Core-TEM facility (with additional electron microscopes and auxiliary equipment) on the modern UTSW North Campus.
