at the University of Colorado, Boulder seeks an experienced electron

The facility </span><span style="font-family: Arial; color: rgb(41, 41, 41);" class="">provides access to a full range of transmission electron
microscopy. Imaging services include conventional TEM, electron tomography and
cryo-electron microscopy. </span><span style="font-family: Arial;" class="">The facility houses three conventional transmission electron
microscopes (Philips CM10, Philips CM100 and Tecnai Spirit BioTwin) and two
intermediate voltage transmission electron microscopes (200kV FEI Tecnai F20

specimen preparation services include negative staining, chemical fixation,
high pressure (Wohlwend Compact 02 HPF) and plunge freezing (FEI Vitrobot),

will be responsible for the electron microscopes, cryofixation devices and
other specimen preparation equipment. A good working knowledge of equipment
and/or ability to learn to do routine maintenance and repair is therefore

will be responsible for training and supervising students, staff, and
scientists in all aspects of the use of microscopy equipment, sample
preparation, data acquisition and processing. Supervisory and teaching skills
required to develop and manage a team of professional and student research

provide guidance on the design, execution and interpretation of experiments
involving cellular and molecular structure. The CU-Boulder EM Service is largely
self-supporting in that the majority of the operating budget is derived from
fees assessed to the users of the facility and the facility manager is
responsible for supervising the billing and monitoring revenues and

preferred. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. Additional
desired traits include: Previous teaching experience or experience training
large numbers of graduate students, postdoc, and research staff in electron microscopy
techniques and image analysis. A strong research background and publication
record and evidence of successful grant writing, fund raising and willingness
