<P DIR=LTR ALIGN=JUSTIFY><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">The Department of Microbiology and Cell Science, in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR) at the University of Florida, is seeking a dynamic individual for a tenure accruing faculty position and the head of an electron microscopy and bioimaging core laboratory.</SPAN></P>
<P DIR=LTR ALIGN=JUSTIFY><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">The</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> successful candidate</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> will be expected to develop and maintain a strong</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">,</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> externally-funded research program in</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> m</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">icrobiology or</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> c</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">ell</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> s</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">cience</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">, participate in teaching, and</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> direct the Electron Microscopy and Bioimaging Laboratory (EMBL) within UF’s ICBR</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">,</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> Technical support staff will be provided to perform the daily service tasks of this ICBR research facility. As the director, the incumbent will be charged with setting the vision and acquiring the resources to make the ICBR EMBL among the best in the nation.</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> Candidates with interests in applying modern bioimaging technology,</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> including</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> electron microscopy, to important problems in cellular or molecular biology are</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> especially</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> encouraged to apply.</SPAN></P>

<P DIR=LTR ALIGN=JUSTIFY><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">This is a 12-month tenure-accruing position that has 50% research, 25% service, and 25% instructional components. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the units. Instructional responsibilities</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> will be</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> to participate in</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> teach</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">ing</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> undergraduate</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> and graduate courses.</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> The faculty member will</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> also</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> supervise graduate student theses and dissertations</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">.</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> </SPAN></P>

<P DIR=LTR ALIGN=JUSTIFY><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">Required qualifications are a Ph.D. degree in cell biology or related field, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience, and a significant record of productivity, as demonstrated through refereed publications, including published productivity in</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT COLOR="#FF0000"></FONT></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> bioimaging.</SPAN></P>

The Department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees through the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; the undergraduate degree is also offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Research programs are sponsored through the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station. The ICBR Core Laboratories, including the Electron Microscopy Bioimaging Laboratory</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us">,</SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"></SPAN><SPAN LANG="en-us"> are staffed by ICBR personnel who are expert in each of the research laboratory technologies (genomics, proteomics, sequencing, gene expression, mass spectrometry, microarrays, hybridoma, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, molecular biomarkers, genetic analysis, and bioinformatics). The staff also advises and offers scientific and technical consultation for investigators, and is strongly committed to developing new advances in their technology areas and to passing this knowledge on to faculty users.</SPAN></P>
