<div><font color="#000000">A computer administrator position is
available in Dr. Jenny Hinshaw's laboratory beginning March 2006.
Requirements for this position include experience with Linux and SGI
machines, programming skills in C/C++, JAVA, Python, PERL, FORTRAN,
and UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting. A major focus of our research is
calculating 3 dimensional structures of proteins involved in
endocytosis and membrane remodeling events. We currently have solved
the structure of a dynamin mutant in the constricted and
non-constricted states to a resolution of 20 Å. This work
entails numerous computational and 3D imaging programs. We
currently have three Linux and one SGI machines in the laboratory
dedicated to processing and imaging data.</font></div>
<div><font color="#000000"><br>
The position involves: <br>
1. Image processing helical tubes using helical reconstruction
methods. Assist in writing shell scripts for image processing,
debugging any existing shell scripts, and implement additional images
processing programs. <br>
2. Implementing a database for storing 3D image processing data and
automate segments of cryo-electron microscopy and image
processing. </font></div>
<div><font color="#000000">3. System management for the 1 SGI machine,
3 Linux machines and 2 associated Apple computers, including upgrading
the machines with available patches and current operating systems, and
eliminating any security problems. </font></div>
