opportunity for a Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist specialized in Virology
to join the group of Dr Stephen Fuller.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>The work, funded by the Wellcome Trust Programme Grant, focuses on virus
structure, assembly and entry using cryo-electron microscopy and computer image
reconstruction.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The researcher
will co-ordinate work on retrovirus structure and collaborations with other
groups in Oxford, London and Heidelberg.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>A minimum of five years postdoctoral experience working with membrane
viruses is essential.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Experience
with retroviruses and interacting with structural biologists would be an
advantage.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The laboratory is
equipped for biochemical preparation, mammalian and insect cell culture, X-ray

in refining and developing image processing programs for determining
three-dimensional structure from low contrast cryo-electron micrographs.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate solid postdoctoral experience in
scientific computing developing or maintaining programs in FORTRAN and C on
UNIX systems. Experience in image processing of electron micrographs would be
of advantage. Current projects in the group include icosahedral reconstructions,
electron crystallography, tomography and single particle reconstruction.<span
