We are pleased to invite you to our May 2026 Stanford Electron Microscopy-X (EM-X) Symposium on May 4th, 2026, Monday, 8-9:30 AM (PDT).
Speakers:
Prof. Yoshinori Fujiyoshi
Professor, Cellular and Structural Physiology Laboratory (CeSPL), Institute of Science Tokyo
Talk Title: Structural physiology based on cryo-EM
Bio: Yoshinori Fujiyoshi, a distinguished professor at the Institute of Science, Tokyo, and a pioneer in structural biophysics and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), developed helium-cooled cryo-TEM systems that enable atomic-resolution imaging of membrane proteins. His work on electron crystallography, ion channels, and aquaporins has been foundational in establishing modern structural biology approaches and advancing structural physiology.
Dr. Haimei Zhang
Senior Scientist, Materials Science Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab
Talk Title: Development and Applications of Liquid Phase TEM for Materials Synthesis, Energy Materials Dynamics, and Beyond
Bio: Dr. Haimei Zheng is a Senior Scientist in the Materials Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on nanoscale materials transformations and dynamic phenomena at solid-liquid interfaces, enabled by the development and application of liquid phase transmission electron microscopy.
