Dear Colleagues,

Our group at ETH Zurich’s Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics is looking for an exceptional postdoctoral candidate to work on the structure and biophysics of microtubules and their associated protein complexes.

In addition to a fully-equipped wet lab for specimen preparation, the successful candidate will have access to:

  *
State-of-the-art electron microscopes, including three 300 keV TFS Titan Krios instruments with Gatan K2 or K3 detectors and imaging filters
  *
Focused ion beam milling instrumentation, including a TFS Arctis plasma-FIB
  *
Established large-scale storage and GPU computing infrastructure within the group, which is in addition to ETH Zurich’s GPU cluster, Euler

Candidates must hold or be wrapping up with a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, or related fields. The candidate will be expected to lead an independent project while contributing actively to a highly dynamic and collaborative research environment. A strong enthusiasm for scientific discovery and an exceptional level of collegiality, dedication, and work ethic is essential for this position. Previous experience in structural biology and biochemistry, especially using single particle cryo-EM or cryo-ET and as evidenced by first-author publications, is desirable.

The position has a tentative start date of as early as June 1st, 2026. Applications should contain a single pdf with a max 1 page letter of motivation, a CV including a complete publication list, and contact information for 2 references. Applications should be sent by email to: michal.wieczorek at biol.ethz.ch . The subject header should contain the format: "Wieczorek Group Application - <Last name, First name>". The application deadline is 12:00 CET on April 30th, 2026.
