The science:

The molecular organisation of the early secretory pathway is unclear, despite it being a fundamental cellular process that traffics a third of all synthesised proteins, including most membrane proteins, and secreted ones such as hormones, antibodies, and large extracellular matrix components. This project aims to use cryo-correlative FIB/SEM and tomography to shed light on the molecular events that mediate ER export.

The place:

We are based at the Francis Crick Institute (where the project will be carried out), while also being part of the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology (Birkbeck and UCL). We have access to state-of-the art facilities including AquilosII with IFLM, Glacios, Talos and Krios microscopes.

The people:

We are a small, nurturing and supporting lab, part of a large and thriving scientific community. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is keen to share our enthusiasm researching some very fundamental questions, while working with peers in a respectful environment. We are currently supported by ERC and MRC.
