Postdoctoral position, Structure and function of bacterial nanomachines team (Fronzes lab), Bordeaux, France

A 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the "Structure and function of bacterial nanomachines" group in Bordeaux.
 
Our research objective is to decipher the molecular and cellular mechanisms that support contact-dependent interbacterial competition. The person to be recruited will use a wide range of in vitro and in vivo approaches (including molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as CryoEM/ET and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy).
 
Interested candidates should have a recent PhD in bacteriology and/or molecular/structural biology and a relevant research publication record.
 
The starting date will be agreed with the selected candidate, preferably in the first semester of 2025.

Our laboratory is located at the Institut Européen de Chimie et Biologie (IECB), an international and interdisciplinary research team incubator under the joint authority of the CNRS, Inserm and the University of Bordeaux. At the IECB, our laboratory has access to state-of-the-art facilities in structural biology and other biophysical methods. In particular, we have privileged access to two cryo-EMs dedicated to structural biology (200 kV FEG cryo-EM Glacios 2 with Selectris filter and Falcon4i and 200 kV FEG Talos Arctica with a K2 Summit). The team is part of the "Fundamental Microbiology and Pathogenicity" research unit (UMR5234) in Bordeaux. This laboratory specialises in the study of infectious diseases caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites.
