There’s huge momentum for cryo-EM at the university, with several labs actively pushing cryo-EM and a 300 kV instrument on the way. We also have a screening scope and nearby high-res scopes while we get up and running. USF and nearby Moffitt Cancer Center (an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center) have excellent core facilities and a great community of structural biologists and biophysicists.

I spent many years in this department as a graduate student, and my experience is a core reason I’m returning as faculty. It’s a supportive, collaborative, intellectual environment with exciting, diverse science and excellent leadership. Plus, Tampa is an excellent city to live in.
