Dear cryo-ET enthusiasts,

ARISE2 (Career Accelerator for Research Infrastructure Scientists) is an MSCA-funded postdoctoral fellowship programme offering talented STEM fellows from around the world the unique opportunity to work on the development and/or improvement of technologies for Life Science Research while developing the expertise needed for a career in research infrastructures making them sought after experts both in academia and industry.
Please see the webpage for the previous ARISE round for more information (https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.embl.org/about/info/arise/__;!!Mih3wA!CD56FwJYUX8lbEgt4XPzH6Bv-uLY8Xp2DH446YHPpPbffxqeVOveLCU3zQyDxm8glRjtpER29I8GacrvmXKbkp0Z5kc$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.embl.org/about/info/arise/__;!!Mih3wA!CD56FwJYUX8lbEgt4XPzH6Bv-uLY8Xp2DH446YHPpPbffxqeVOveLCU3zQyDxm8glRjtpER29I8GacrvmXKbkp0Z5kc$ >). The one for ARISE2 is coming soon!

Successful fellows receive three year contracts with social benefits and access to a training package. The first call for the new programme will be open from September 23rd until November 25, 2024 with interviews planned for the week of February 10th, 2025. You can join an information webinar taking place on September 30th at 15:00 CEST to learn more about the programme (register here <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://embl-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Eb88NsKdRGuoIyJqXAcFQw__;!!Mih3wA!CD56FwJYUX8lbEgt4XPzH6Bv-uLY8Xp2DH446YHPpPbffxqeVOveLCU3zQyDxm8glRjtpER29I8GacrvmXKbN8coS9c$ >) or contact the programme at arise2 at embl.de <mailto:arise2 at embl.de>.

My group at EMBL Heidelberg, together with the Mattei group at the EMBL Imaging Centre, the EMBL Data Science Center, and in collaboration with the public data repositories teams EMBL-EBI, will participate in the upcoming 2024 call. If you you have strong interest in tackling current throughput bottlenecks in advanced instrumentation (cryo-plasmaFIB volume imaging, lift-out lamella preparations, and 3D correlative image registration) or in large-scale integrated cryo-ET data management, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss project ideas.

Cheers, Julia
