Dear all,

two PhD positions are available in my group at the Leibniz Research Institute of Molecular Pharmacology (FMP) in Berlin, Germany. The anticipated starting time of both position is October 2023. We are looking for ambitious, highly motivated, and talented graduate students who are enthusiastic to perform research in a vibrant scientific environment. The applicants should be meticulous in their work, team players, and have the wish to excel in science. A master degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Physics, Chemistry or a related subject with excellent grades is required. Experience in structural biology or protein biochemistry is of advantage.

The project will carried out in close conjunction with the research groups of Prof. Dr. A. Lange (FMP) and Prof. Dr. H. Sun (FMP). The candidate will apply cryo-EM/SPA and integrated structural biology to elucidate the structural basis of substrate recognition and proteolysis of intramembrane proteases. Piontek (Charité Univ. Medicine Berlin). The candidate will carry out cryo-EM/SPA, protein biochemistry, cell biology, and super resolution microscopy to understand pore formation and receptor binding of a clostridial toxin.
