The Stewart laboratory at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) has an
opening for a talented postdoctoral fellow with experience in structural
biology. This NIH funded project includes determining cryoEM structures of
adenovirus in complex with various host immune factors with the goal of
enhancing our understanding of adenovirus neutralization. Adenovirus (Ad)
vectors are being developed for use as oncolytic viruses, as well as for
vaccine and gene therapy applications. This is an ongoing collaborative
project with the Shayakhmetov group at Emory University (see e.g. Atasheva
et al., Science Translational Medicine, 2020). The position is for two
years and is renewable for an additional year.

The Stewart lab has excellent access to a state-of-the-art cryoEM core at
CWRU, which includes a Titan Krios equipped with a BioQuantum K3 detector
(see https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__case.edu_medicine_ccmsb_&d=DwIBaQ&c=-35OiAkTchMrZOngvJPOeA&r=L7-zyQ-04fFCMRqzLIOnx7H0exGZHwIQe_wMPuY600I&m=maOiZ2TL2vMhYCqUchdiriW5O4diD0KfODojb-GblYwD7sRFmrZj8irQtrfAcIjo&s=Qn9pnQ4WPa9NfKvLvLW8dD989u8Y_5PmyVtbeetI0rU&e= ). In addition, the lab utilizes the
High Performance Computing Cluster at CWRU.

Candidates for this position must have a PhD degree in a biological
science, experience in structural biology, experience manipulating protein
or virus samples, and have good writing and communication skills.
Experience in cryoEM is preferred, but not required.

Cleveland, Ohio offers a vibrant and affordable place to live with access
to a variety of cultural and outdoor activities. Interested applicants
should email a cover letter stating their motivation for the position,
their CV including education and publications, and a short description of
their experience in structural biology.

Please feel free to contact me for more information.
