We are pleased to announce two upcoming virtual courses this Spring as part of the community-led training program in cryo-EM funded by the Wellcome Trust and MRC. These courses aim to help you become more independent and learn tips and tricks for your single particle and cryo tomography projects. We model this online course on how we train our eBIC BAG users for remote operation. This course is aimed at those with some experience, looking to gain further independence. You will have 1 day of demonstration by an eBIC expert in using TFS EPU software to set up single particle acquisition. In the following 2 days, control will be given to participants and guided through the processes they have observed. The final day will be a session dedicated to data analysis, with a focus on handling data from on-the-fly pre-processing pipelines. This introduction to electron tomography course will include 1 day of lectures and theory. This course is aimed at those with no or very little experience in electron tomography. Over the course, each participant will get 1.5 days on Titan Krios in small groups of 3, to obtain remote ‘hands-on’ experience setting up data collection using TFS Tomo software. Sample preparation for cryo-ET will be demonstrated, as well as discussion of tomogram reconstruction.
