Dear all,

I send you a job offer for a research engineer in electron microscopy in biology at the Ultrastructural BioImaging Core Facility, Institut Pasteur.

Recruitment: July 1, 2022 to September 30, 2022

Technological environment
The Institut Pasteur is a private, non-profit foundation. Its mission is to help prevent and treat diseases, mainly those of infectious origin, through research, teaching, and public health initiatives.
The Institut Pasteur develops many major international projects in partnership with the main international scientific authorities such as the World Health Organization, and many research institutions, foundations, universities and other private actors worldwide. In addition, the Institut Pasteur is at the heart of the Institut Pasteur International Network, 33 members around the world linked by missions of research, public health and education.
The Ultrastructural BioImaging unit, composed of 13 microscopists, collaborates with Pasteurian research groups as well as with external groups to provide scientific and technological expertise in electron microscopy. The platform offers a wide variety of sample preparation and imaging techniques and is particularly focused on host pathogen interaction and pathogen characterization.

Mission:
The Ultrastructural BioImaging platform is in Paris. The platform is equipped with 5 electron microscopes and 20 sample preparation systems. The recruited engineer will work on biological samples and will be in charge of implementation and development of transmission and scanning electron microscopy methods. Under the responsibility of the Platform Director, the engineer will have the opportunity to interact with other imaging platforms, to apply for Grants and will be in charge of equipment (microscopes, preparation systems).

Activities:
- Preparation and observation of biological samples: plunge freezer, HPF-FS, microtomy, TEM, ET, cryoEM.
- Collaborative project management.
- Interactions with other imaging platforms: the NanoImaging cryoEM platform, the Photonic BioImaging platform and the Image Analysis Hub.
- Interactions with other Paris electron microscopy platforms
- Train platform users.
- In charge of a 200kV TEM
- Student supervision
