The University of Wollongong (UOW) (just south of Sydney, Australia) in conjunction with the Centre for Cryo-electron Microscopy of Membrane Proteins (CCeMMP) is hiring a postdoc to fill a critical leadership roll in this multi-institution partnership. The core of the Centre's vision is to provide a world-leading workforce that can advance Australia’s biotechnological capability and to build strong linkages with the drug discovery and development industries. This partnership reaches across academia and into a robust cadre of world leading drug development companies and world leading academic institutions. This Postdoctoral Research Associate position will be based in the University of Wollongong’s new molecular life sciences research institute, Molecular Horizons. Molecular Horizons represents a major strategic priority for UOW in integrating research across chemistry and biology, and supporting those efforts by a strong investment in new research facilities and infrastructure. As part of the new Molecular Horizons initiative, UOW has established a cryo-electron microscopy facility in a newly constructed state-of-the-art research building. The cryo-EM facility houses several Thermo Fisher platforms, including a Gatan K3 bioquantum equipped Titan Krios, a Talos Arctica equipped with the K2 direct detector, and a T12 for training and negative stain. The facility is supported by a talented and collegial team of cryoEM experts who provide support in sample preparation, data acquisition and data processing to a large number of internal and external customers. We are looking for a collegial and energetic person with a wide variety of talents across the field of CryoEM. 

This up to 5 year fixed term position offers a significant living wage salary of $79,490 - $93,130 AUD. Yes, I know it’s gone out of fashion to broadcast salary’s but, I’m hoping to bring this practice back so that we don’t waste anyone’s time. But, wait there’s more. You’ll also receive a very generous retirement package which includes an additional 17% of your salary in superannuation, paid on top of your salary and  into your retirement account.
