Open position: Cryo-EM Structural Biologist, Adjunct Professor Series

The Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking an outstanding and motivated individual to join our cutting- edge research institute in the Adjunct Professor Series track. The successful candidate will immediately contribute to our ongoing cryo-EM structural biology program focused on deciphering the structural basis for neurodegenerative diseases, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). The IND is building a highly focused and multidisciplinary team to discover the causes of disease, and develop effective pharmacologic treatments, cures and diagnostic markers for these diseases. The IND is directed by Dr. Stanley Prusiner and located at the Sandler Neurosciences Center at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, a world-renowned hub of biomedical research and discovery.
The IND cryo-EM resources at the UCSF Mission Bay campus include a Titan Krios with phase plate, energy filter and Gatan K3, a 200 keV Glacios with a Gatan K2, and a Talos L120C. As a part of UCSF Center for Advanced Cryo-EM, additional state-of-the-art cryo-EM resources are available including a Titan Krios, Glacios and Talos Arctica as well as a FIB-SEM facility scheduled to be operational later this year. The appointee will be a part of a world-renowned research and training environment at UCSF with opportunities to present work and interact routinely with IND investigators and cryo-EM community across UCSF and the Bay Area.
