The Center for Structural Biology Cryo-EM Facility at Vanderbilt University
seeks a full-time Research Assistant to join the team.
The Cryo-EM Facility aims to advance biomedical science knowledge through
high-resolution imaging and image analysis of biomolecular assemblies. The
Facility's mandate is to enable state-of-the-art molecular electron
microscopy experiments for all Vanderbilt investigators with biomedical
research needs. This environment provides the opportunity for a motivated
individual to participate in and contribute significantly toa stimulating
professional research and teaching environment at the cutting edge of
structural biology.
The Facility houses 4 electron microscopes, including a Titan Krios G4 with
Falcon3 and BioQuantum K3 direct electron detectors. This diverse
environment is highly collaborative, working with structural biologists,
cell biologists, engineers, chemists, and other University facilities with
expanded electron microscopy equipment, including a Thermo Scientific
Helios Nanolab G3 CX FIB-SEM with a Quorum PP3010 cryo system.
The Facility is expanding from our current work with cryo-EM and in situ
cryo-ET to include new technologies and instruments such as correlative
light and electron microscopy and MicroED applications. The position will
be tailored to the Facility's needs and the successful applicant's previous
experience and interests. Applicants of all backgrounds who have a strong
interest in becoming a cryo-EM expert will be considered.

Two Postdoc positions available in Cryo-EM
Dear community,
I would like to draw you attention to the availability of two open
positions in my lab at the Institut Europ?en de Chimie et Biologie (IECB)
in the city of Bordeaux, France. Both positions are available immediately,
for a minimum duration of two years each.
One position will be funded by an ERC Starting Grant (up to 2023) and the
second position will be funded by the ANR (French national funding agency).
Job description: The research will focus on studying cytosolic and
mitochondrial mRNA translation regulation in eukaryotes, including
pathogenic protozoa and plants, by cryo-EM and other molecular biology and
biochemistry approaches. The group will investigate among other aspects the
differences existing between mammals, plants and pathogenic protozoa (such
as kinetoplastids species) in the structure and regulation of their
translation complexes.
Requirements: The Postdoc candidates have ideally a PhD and/or experience
in structural biology. However, PhDs in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular
biology or a related field are of course also eligible. Strong written and
oral communication skills in English are required and computational skills
are a definite plus to the application. French is not required. Successful
candidates will be strongly encouraged to apply for fellowships and
additional funding.

We have a state-of-art EM facility counting all the related
grid-preparation material, several microscopes counting a Talos Arctica
(200kv) equipped with a Falcon 3 and a K2 cameras, an F20 and a CM120. A
second high-end microscope more tomography-oriented will soon be added to
the already existing infra structure. The IECB also counts NMR, X-ray
crystallography and optical microscopy platforms.
