Dear Igor,

Yes you should consider TVIPS. We also have the XF416 on our Jeol 2100Plus. It has the GPU assisted drift correction, fast readout, also flatfield-dark correction is assisted by GP . As Adam said, no problem incorporating SerialEM. We use it for platic section tiling, tomography (wwith SerialEM) and cryo screening.

They have the possibilities to build on-demand scintillator for high sensitivity or high resolution.

The team is excellent and they answer quickly.

Best wishes,

Jean

Dear Igor,
My vote also for TVIPS. They have extremely flexible and fast support, the detectors are at least comparable to other best CCD/CMOS, and the price is also advantage.

Dear Igor,
consider also cameras from Tietz. We have a TVIPS XF-416 on our JEM 2100+ and works great, no problem incorporating Serial EM, very fast and sensitive. After a series of very bad experiences with consumer support (at least in Europe), we try to avoid Gatan. We contacted them regarding the OneView offer, no reaction, not a single email... I attached a comparison (but take it with a pinch of salt...).

Best regards

Adam

Hello 3dem community,

I'm looking to buy a new camera for the JEOL JEM1400 microscope. The camera will be used for epoxy resin sections imaging, serial section TEM, tomography, nanoparticles and negative staining imaging, occasionally for imaging TEM lamellas. Currently we have an AMT XR60 12MPx CCD camera on our JEM1400 with AMT capturing software plus SerialEM. On another microscope JEM2100 we have Gatan Orius SC1000 camera.

By price I have a choice between Gatan RIO16 and AMT NanoSprint43 MK-II and AMT NanoSprint15 Mk-II. I've seen Gatan OneView in action and was impressed by its drift correction. I would assume RIO16 has similar performance in that as well. I'm not sure about AMT cameras though. I really like the AMT camera for its simplicity, however its drift correction is unknown to me.

I would really appreciate any feedback for the mentioned above cameras.

Kind regards,
Igor Kraev
