The Jura and Verba labs at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) currently have two open postdoctoral positions to work on application of cryo-EM to the studies of signaling complexes.

One project focuses on structural investigation of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) complexes assembly and signaling. Another project centers on identification and structural characterization of signaling complexes that are associated with the MYC transcription factor. Both projects are funded and will benefit from an established array of reagents, tools, and expertise to build on. The Jura and Verba labs closely collaborate at the interface of biochemistry and structural biology, with the emphasis on application of innovative technologies to advance the cryo-EM studies of complex signaling systems.

The labs are located at the vibrant and highly collaborative UCSF Mission Bay campus located nearby San Francisco downtown and culturally diverse Mission and Potrero districts. UCSF state of the art cryo-EM facilities include four autoloader microscopes: two Titan Krios microscopes both equipped with energy filters, K3 detectors and phase plates and Arctica and Glacios microscopes both equipped with K3 detectors. For users who prefer a personal relationship with the microscope we also have an FEI Polara with a K2 detector. In addition, the facilities recently acquired Aquilos cryo-FIB together with Leica high pressure freezer and Leica cryo-CLEM set up enabling state of the art cryo-ET. Access to this equipment together with a highly collaborative environment presents a perfect training opportunity for anyone interested in learning or furthering their cryo-EM skills.

We seek highly motivated individuals with a passion for structural biology and cell signaling. A Ph.D. degree in the life sciences with emphasis on biochemistry/structural biology is preferred. Candidates should send their application to Natalia Jura (natalia.jura at ucsf.edu<mailto:natalia.jura at ucsf.edu>) and Klim Verba (verba at msg.ucsf.edu<mailto:verba at msg.ucsf.edu>)
