Cryo-EM Specialist

  *   Full Time (40h/w)
  *   Klosterneuburg (Vienna), Austria

Responsibilities
The IST Austria Electron Microscopy facility supports the vibrant international scientific community at the institute, with state-of-the-art cryo-EM infrastructure, covering single-particle analysis, ion-beam milling and cryo-electron tomography workflows. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly motivated person who will support EM facility users in cryo-EM related tasks in a challenging international environment.

  *   Operating and maintenance of cryo-EM equipment
  *   Monitoring of systems, regular system check including systems alignment
  *   Training, assistance, on-site support and supervision of users
  *   Monitoring of compliance with rules
  *   Active contribution to the development of the EM facility

Profile:

  *   Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Physics and/or proven high-end cryo-EM hands-on experience
  *   Practical experience in the following cryo-EM application areas: sample preparation, electron tomography and SPA data collection, cryo-EM data processing
  *   Strong computational skills, with a specific focus on cryo-EM related SW for data collection and processing
  *   Experience with cryo-CLEM and cryo-FIB is an advantage
  *   Excellent team player that can also work independently
  *   High degree of reliability, organizational and interpersonal skills
  *   Service oriented approach towards researches in a multidisciplinary environment
  *   Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills in English
