TheSouth EasternConsortium forMicroscopy ofMacroMolecular 
Machines(SECM4) 
atFloridaStateUniversityinTallahassee,FloridaseeksanexpertelectronmicroscopistwithTitanKriosexperiencetoassistwithconsortiumoperations.Thesuccessfulapplicant'srolewillcenteraroundday-to-daysampleandvisitorlogistics,Titanoperation,datacollectionandmanagementaswellasdatapre-processing,and 
softwaremaintenanceas itpertains todataacquisition 
andpreprocessing.Coordinatingskillsare necessarybecause bothConsortium 
and localusers utilize thesame datacollectionand preprocessingpipelines 
aswell asimmediate datastorage. Some physicalcapability 
isneededinorderto move and positiontanks ofcompressed and 
liquifiedgases. The FSU Titan Krios has a Volta Phase Plate, DE-64 
direct electron detector with single electron counting capability and a 
Gatan BioQuantum energy filter with K3 direct electron detector. The 
position offers an excellent opportunity to gain extensive experience 
with a state-of-the-art Titan Krios and with managing a data collection 
service. Although this position is short term, there are possibilities 
through separate initiatives that if successful could lead to a 
longer-term position.

Theideal candidate wouldhave aPhDdegree, have excellentworking knowledge 
oftransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM)andthecollectionofTitanKriosdirectelectrondetectordatausingtheLeginon/Appionsystem.Theywouldalsobehighlymechanically, 
electronically, andcomputationallyinclined.Goodcommunication 
andpeopleskillsareessential.Wewillconsider 
trainingsomeonewithpartialqualifications,therightmindset,andcommitment.

Thisisafull-timeposition withfull healthinsurance but no retirement 
benefits.
