[3dem] post-doc position in EM and infectious disease

Dear colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to an open position for a post-doctoral fellow in electron microscopy. The candidate will join the newly established research group at Paul Ehrlich Institute (Langen, Germany) that uses routine and advanced EM methods to study intra-cellular pathogens.

The candidate will be involved in establishing routines in advanced EM techniques using the research questions of the principal investigator, which is how large DNA-viruses rearrange cellular membranes (see eg. PMID: 19616767; 23168015; 28270563; 30996095; 29702107).  A major emphasis will be on (cryo-) correlated light- and electron microscopy (PMID:30664666).

The microscopy unit at Paul Ehrlich Institute offers advanced EM sample preparation equipment, routine EM imaging and advanced light microscopy (LM), including life cell imaging and cryoLM.

The position is initially for four years and is funded by the Loewe center DRUID that focuses on neglected infectious diseases and collects scientists from the university of Giessen, Marburg and PEI (Germany). We are looking for a person with a background in EM, who is highly motivated to advance EM at PEI and within the DRUID-consortium, to study neglected infectious disease.
