NIH has published two Requests For Applications (RFAs) for a national network of service centers to provide nationwide access to cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) technology.

The two RFAs for the initiative will support a network having two kinds of service centers. One RFA, RFA-RM-19-010<https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-RM-19-010.html>, will establish a larger network central hub. The hub will provide cryoET services to two constituencies. First, it will serve user laboratories in the community directly. Second, the hub will also provide services to the four service centers that will be established by the companion RFA, RFA-RM-19-009<https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-RM-19-009.html>. Those service centers will specialize in specimen preparation. The hub will perform cryoET data collection for all the user laboratories served by the whole network. The activities of all the centers in the network will be coordinated by a Network Coordinating Group, a committee comprising the PD(s)/PI(s) of all the centers and NIH staff.

A list of frequently asked questions for these FOAs is posted at https://commonfund.nih.gov/cryoem/<https://commonfund.nih.gov/cryoem/FAQ>

Letters of Intent (optional) are due October 12, 2019
Applications are due November 12, 2019, for funding in Summer, 2020.

If you are planning to submit an application in response to either of these announcements, I encourage you to contact me.
