Dear All,


Our Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) group at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research is seeking a highly motivated cryo-electron microscopist to support drug discovery programs for multiple disease areas. CBT encompasses the full spectrum of advanced capabilities needed to succeed in a state-of-the-art and collaborative drug discovery environment. Cryo-EM is one of the key technologies that CBT is heavily investing in to enable structure-guided drug discovery and to deliver molecular insights in therapeutically important protein targets. We are establishing a state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility at Novartis in Cambridge, MA. The facility will be equipped with a Glacios microscope, Falcon 3 camera and all tools required for sample preparation to achieve high resolution structures with a dedicated computing infrastructure. We partner with Novartis’ cryo-EM group in Basel, Switzerland, for high resolution data collection on our Titan Krios. The position is within the Protein Science group, an interdisciplinary team with expertise in molecular biology, protein chemistry, biophysics, NMR, X-ray crystallography, and electron microscopy. Our mission is to enable structure-guided drug discovery for multiple disease areas and to identify innovative approaches that can address difficult drug targets.



We now have the exciting opportunity for an electron microscopy expert to lead our cryo-EM activities in Cambridge, MA. You will work closely with chemists and biologists in multiple disease areas to initiate and lead single particle cryo-EM projects for targets of interest to Novartis. You will also build and train a team of scientists to handle operational tasks and shape the direction and impact of the facility.
