Dear All,

one post-doctoral position is available immediately in my research group at the University of Potsdam. The position is funded for up to 6 six years covering both, research and teaching obligations. The research project focusses on the investigation of the structure and function of (mammalian) ATPase complexes using state-of-the-art cryo electron microscopy, as well as biochemical and biophysical techniques. The successful applicant is expected to purify multi protein complexes from yeast and bacteria, collect and analyse EM data, interact with internal and external collaborators, as well as participate in teaching of graduate and undergraduate students. 

I am looking for a motivated and creative individual with a strong interest in functional and structural characterization of large multi-subunit complexes. Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant subject area, such as protein biochemistry or structural biology. Experience in heterologous protein expression, purification of multi protein complexes, and either structural determination or functional analysis using biochemical and biophysical techniques is essential. Applicants should have excellent technical skills, good interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm to apply and develop new techniques. Experience in protein X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM is an advantage.

Potsdam University is located in the Berlin/Brandenburg research area- a region known to have one of the highest density of research institutes in Germany. The group is part of the Unisyscat (Unifying Systems in Catalysis; https://www.unisyscat.de/) cluster of excellence and has access to a 300 kV Polara equipped with a K2 Summit camera. We are currently building up an in house cryo-EM facility equipped with a new Talos F200, Leica plunger and state-of-the-art GPU clusters.
