Dear All,

We seek to appoint a technologist to maintain and run the cryo-transmission
electron microscopy facility at the School of Biological Sciences,
University of Edinburgh. The post-holder will join a vibrant institute with
an excellent environment for structural biology. They will train and assist
users on the Tecnai 200 keV F20 instrument currently installed at the
King’s Buildings campus. They will also take care of instrument maintenance
and help with sample characterisation and analysis. It is anticipated that
there is likely to be opportunity for independent project work and/or
methods development.

The University of Edinburgh is part of a Scottish Consortium for cryoEM and
the technologist will also play a key coordinator role as part of this
network of facilities, which will include access to a 300keV cryoEM
facility in the Scottish Centre for Macromolecular Imaging in Glasgow.

The post-holder will have a PhD in a related discipline, excellent
communication skills and prior experience with cryo-TEM methods. Previous
experience with either single particle analysis or tomography would be a
benefit.

The School of Biological Sciences holds an Athena Swan Silver Award and is
a family friendly employer.

Informal enquireies should be addressed to Jeyaprakash.Arulanandam at ed.ac.uk,
atlanta.cook at ed.ac.uk or Marcus.wilson at ed.ac.uk
