I just wanted to send out a reminder that the application deadline for the cryoFIB commissioning call at Diamond Light Source is fast approaching. All applications must be submitted by 11th June 2018. More details on the commissioning call can be found below:

The cryo focused ion beam scanning electron microscope at Diamond Light Source is currently in its commissioning period and we would like to announce a call for user proposals during this commissioning period. This first commissioning call will provide time for a limited number of peer reviewed user proposals (our expectations are that no more than 2 or 3 proposals will be accepted in this first commission call).
In this first call we are offering only milling of wedges and lamella at thicknesses around 200-300nm from cells grown on EM grids for subsequent cryoEM/ET imaging. (We will not be offering a fluorescence correlative workflow or cryo lift out at this stage).
Interested potential Diamond users should log in<https://uas.diamond.ac.uk/> and submit their proposal or as a new user simply register in our User Administration Software (UAS) - https://uas.diamond.ac.uk/uas/#register. Once registered or logged into the UAS you should choose the “commissioning” access route and the instrument M05.
All proposals will be assessed and equipment time will be granted based on scientific merit with a strong emphasis on technical feasibility and sample suitability. Applicants should include evidence that their samples are well vitrified and that the EM grid support films are intact after clipping into FEI autogrid rims. All grids must be pre-screened in an autoloader system and pass at least the following but not exclusive set of criteria: appropriate ice thickness, majority of the EM grid support film being intact, and good sample concentration.
We strongly advise that you contact eBIC staff for further details and advice. For technical questions about proposed experiments please contact corey.hecksel at diamond.ac.uk<mailto:corey.hecksel at diamond.ac.uk>

Cheers
