Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the Department of Biochemistry at the University of
California, Riverside is search for an Associate or Full Professor who
applies Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) to problems of fundamental
biological and biomedical importance. UCR is establishing a new CryoEM
facility within an existing Central Facility for Advanced Microscopy and
Microanalysis (CFAMM) (https://cfamm.ucr.edu/) and is looking for an
outstanding candidate to lead this endeavor. This individual, as a UC
faculty member, would have access to the 300 kV instrument at UCLA via the
UCLA-based regional consortium for high resolution CryoEM (
www.eicn.ucla.edu/wmc) as well as the 200kV facility we are setting up here
at UCR.

Application materials must be submitted through AP Recruit online at:
https://aprecruit.ucr.edu/apply/JPF01020 . Review of applications will
begin December 18, 2018.

The successful candidate will join an established department with several
new faculty, a vibrant undergraduate major and strong graduate program (
https://biochemistry.ucr.edu/), and will help recruit an Assistant
Professor who uses CryoEM in the following year.

Opportunities for synergy are available with a number of other units on
campus including a Bioengineering program (https://www.bioeng.ucr.edu/), a
new 4-year medical school at UCR (https://medschool.ucr.edu/), the
Interdisciplinary Center for Quantitative Modeling in Biology (
https://cmich004.github.io/biomath/), and several interdepartmental
graduate programs (including a new graduate program in Biophysics) within
the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (https://cnas.ucr.edu/).

The UCR campus, with over 23,000 students and one of the most diverse
populations in the country (https://www.ucr.edu/), is located in Riverside,
home to the national historic landmark Mission Inn (
https://www.missioninn.com/). Riverside, with year round sunshine, is
within an hours' drive of the beach, mountains and desert and has some of
the most affordable housing within Southern California. It is located
within a two hour’s drive of three other UC campuses (UCI, UCLA, UCSD) as
well as Caltech, University of Southern California and the City of Hope.
