Umma Core Facility for Electron Microscopy (UCEM) and Biochemical Imaging Centre Umea (BICU) are two research infrastructures at Umeå University providing state-of-the-art microscopes and equipment including STORM, Cryo-EM, Spinning disk and Dual Beam-SEM. Together, the facilities form one of the nodes in the VR-funded National Microscopy Infrastructure (NMI). The node in Umeå is specialized in combinations of light- and electron microscopy, so-called correlative microscopy. The NMI node in Umeå now seeks a first research engineer to be recruited for a technical service function responsible for correlative microscope methods, to guide the facility's users and to be responsible for the daily operation of microscopes and preparation equipment. The employment is limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension, starting in summer 2017 or by agreement.
