A Workshop on Advanced Topics in EM Structure Determination: Challenges and Opportunities

29 October 29 – 3 November, 2017

We invite applications to participate in a Workshop on Advanced Topics in EM Structure Determination: Challenges and Opportunities.

CryoEM has entered a new era over the past several years but there are many challenges that remain to be solved. A major goal of this workshop will be to discuss challenges in the field as well as opportunities to address these challenges and move the field forward. Topics to be discussed will include specimen preparation, imaging, instrumentation, processing and reconstruction, and methods for validation. Evenings will be reserved for research talks and poster presentations by participants.
The instructors for the course will include: John Briggs (EMBL), Anchi Cheng (TSRI), Yifan Cheng (UCSF), Wah Chiu (Baylor), Rado Danev (MPI), Joachim Frank (Columbia), Bob Glaeser (LBL), Steve Ludtke (Baylor), Chris Russo (MRC),John Rubinstein (Toronto), Sjors Scheres (MRC), Henning Stahlberg (U. Basel), Elizabeth Villa (UCSD), Tom Walz (Rockefeller U.).

The workshop is aimed at participants that already have some experience practicing cryoEM. We can accommodate a total of 100 participants. The workshop will be held at CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, 85 Saint Nicholas Terrace, New York, NY 10031, which is immediately adjacent to NYSBC where NRAMM is located.

Application forms are here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/35FTYYT

The application deadline is 1 July and a final selection of participants will be made by 1 August.
