Hi Philip,

The heater is very important. Without it there will be beam-induced contamination and charging which will make the phase plate unusable.

Hi Garry,

Unfortunately I don't know of any alternative source for phase plate hardware. The phase plates themselves can be homemade - it's just a grid with ~10 nm amorphous carbon. But the aperture/phase plate holder is special with a built-in heater.

i’m trying to get a quote for a Volta phase plate for a G2 Tecnai F30.  FEI has told me they don’t supply these.  can anyone tell me if there are other companies that do?
