Dear colleagues,

A post-doc position in electron microscopy and membrane biochemistry is available at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm/Sweden. The applicant will investigate the structure of membrane scaffolds by electron microscopy. The project focuses on the purification and characterisation of a soluble, postsynaptic scaffold protein. Downstream of the protein structure we are also interested in the biochemical/biophysical properties of these samples. Therefore, we are interested in the purification of the generic membrane proteins the can act as a bait protein for the protein of interest. We are also developing bio-inspired nanomaterials to develop a functional assay for the scaffold.

The candidate should possess a PhD in Biochemistry (or a related field) and experience in the purification of (membrane) proteins as well as knowledge of structural biology. A high level of motivation and good communication skills are required, because the project is part of a larger collaborative effort.

Our lab is equipped with a JEOL 2100F and a direct electron detector. Further, we have access to the national EM facility (https://cryoem.scilifelab.se/) which features a FEI Krios and a FEI Talos. The position funded through a Human Frontier Science Programme grant and for one year, but can be extended for another year.

Please include a CV and the email address of at least two references when contacting me at carsten.mim at sth.kth.se<mailto:carsten.mim at ki.se>
