Dear Colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to a PDRA opening in my lab here in Glasgow.
This MRC funded project will investigate the structure of enveloped respiratory viruses by cryo-tomography and sub-tomogram averaging.

The MRC - University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) is the UK’s largest grouping of medical and veterinary virologists and is well equipped for structural analysis by cryogenic electron microscopy. Our primary research instrument is a JEOL 2200 200 keV FEG TEM, which is equipped with a Direct Electron DE20 DDD as well as a Gatan Ultrascan 4000 CCD. Ancillary equipment includes an FEI vitrobot, Leica EMPACT, AFS and UC6 cryomicrotome and a 500 core linux cluster.

The CVR recently relocated to a new state of the art research building located on the University of Glasgow Garscube campus and provides a unique research environment with studies spanning molecular, structural and cellular biology, through to the host and population level,

Glasgow is a vibrant multicultural city with excellent museums, art galleries and social life. It is also within easy reach of the beautiful west of Scotland coast line and of course the Scottish highlands.

This post is initially funded for 16 months with the possibility of extension.
