[3dem] Funding opportunity: Beckman Foundation announces the "Beckman Center for Cryo-EM Program"

[Beckman Cryo-EM]

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation is pleased to announce a funding opportunity to help create new "Beckman Centers for Cryogenic Electron Microscopy" at several institutions across the U.S. In summary, the Beckman Foundation will provide funding to offset the purchase price (up to $2.5M) of new Cryo-EM equipment to those institutions demonstrating the strongest structural biology programs and commitment to long-term support of the new Centers and training of new researchers. An overview of the program is attached.

This opportunity is open to invited, U.S. non-profit institutions and universities only. Please check with your grants or foundation relation office to determine if your institution has been invited to apply. If you did not receive an invitation, but believe that you have an excellent structural biology program that would be competitive in this program, please submit a request for an invitation to BeckmanCryoEM at beckman-foundation.org<mailto:BeckmanCryoEM at beckman-foundation.org> and include your Institution's IRS Determination Letter. The Foundation will evaluate all requests, and reserves the right to accept or deny any request received.

Timeline:
Request for invitation due: October 1, 2016
Applications due: November 1, 2016
Awards announced: February 2017
Funding: One-time awards around July 2017
